Privacy policy

Short version: nothing about you leaves your phone. The long version is below, and it is not much longer.

What Ami does

Ami is an iPhone app that checks the medicines you choose against two public lists published by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration: recall enforcement reports and the drug shortage list, read through openFDA (api.fda.gov). The checking happens on your phone. If something in those lists touches a medicine on your list, Ami tells you and writes the question to ask your pharmacist or doctor.

What Ami collects

Nothing. Ami has no account, asks for no name, no email address, no phone number, no contacts and no location, and runs no analytics or advertising code. There is no server belonging to Ami or to Ai MedAgent™ that your phone talks to.

Your medicine list

You either type medicine names into Ami or choose them from the medication list you keep in Apple’s Health app. Either way the list is stored in a file on your phone, protected by the phone’s own encryption, and never transmitted anywhere. Ami reads the Health app only for the medicines you pick on Apple’s own permission screen, and never writes to the Health app. You can withdraw that permission at any time in the Health app under Sharing, Apps, Ami.

What leaves your phone

Only requests to the FDA’s public openFDA service, to download the recall and shortage lists. Those requests do not contain your medicine names; Ami downloads the lists whole and does the matching on the phone. Like any internet request, they carry your phone’s network address to the FDA’s servers, which are operated by the U.S. government under their own terms of service.

Notifications

If you turn notifications on, Ami uses Apple’s notification system on your phone. No notification content is sent to anyone but you.

Testing through TestFlight

While Ami is in testing, Apple’s TestFlight app may collect crash logs and the feedback you choose to send, under Apple’s privacy policy. Feedback you send through TestFlight reaches the developer with your name as you entered it in TestFlight. Ami itself adds nothing to that.

Deleting your information

Delete the app, or use Start over in Ami’s settings. Either removes everything Ami stored, because everything Ami stored is on your phone. There is nothing to request from us, because we hold nothing.

What Ami is not

Ami is not a medical device and does not give medical advice. It never tells you to stop, start or change a medicine. The FDA does not endorse Ami, and openFDA asks that its data not be the basis for medical decisions. Ask your pharmacist or doctor.
